Jackson Health System – Seven days after Karina Lambertini gave birth to twin girls, she noticed that one of her twin daughters, Alessandra, wouldn’t eat. Sensing something was wrong, Karina and her husband Axel went to the ER in Palm Beach where Alessandra was diagnosed with intestinal malrotation. They later determined Alessandra would need a multivisceral transplant. She was listed on the transplant waiting list in July 2014, and just before the holidays of that same year, Alessandra underwent a successful surgery at the Miami Transplant Institute. Alessandra now leads a healthy and happy life.
